Nickel is one of the most important industrial metals. It is present as an alloying element in cast irons and stainless steels, in particular the austenitic ones that contain from 8% to 35% Nickel.

The most industrially used nickel has a purity grade of 99.4% (Ni + Co) with the following maximum impurities: Cu max. 0.1%; Fe max. 0.15%; Mn max. 0.2%; C max. 0.1%; Si max. 0.05%; S max. 0.005%.

NICKEL ALLOYS

Ramisa also handles all the main nickel alloys on the market.

Constantan

It is an alloy composed of 44/46% Nickel and 54/56% copper. Constantan is an alloy characterised by a particularly stable resistivity as the temperature varies. Sometimes it can be alloyed with a small percentage of Mn (1%).

It is supplied in the form of wires or strips. The minimum weight of the coil is 50 kg.

Nickel silver (Alpacca)

Alpacca is the name given to a series of copper-nickel-zinc alloys, also called argentone or argentena, with zinc at 15/30% and nickel at 10/30%, having good mechanical and corrosion-resistance characteristics. The presence of nickel improves these characteristics and gives the alloys an appearance very similar to that of silver.

In English it is called Nickel Silver or also German Silver.

Ramisa is able to source Alpacca semi-finished products and special Alpacca alloys.

Monel

Monel or “Monel Metal” is the name for a series of corrosion-resistant alloys typically containing 67% nickel and 30% copper with traces of iron, manganese and other elements.

NICKEL TRADED IN THE LONDON METAL EXCHANGE WAREHOUSES

The nickel traded in the warehouses of the London Metal Exchange has the following characteristics:

Primary nickel with minimum purity 99.80%
Form: cathodes, pellets or briquettes can be supplied. In the case of the supply of cathodes (the most common), they can have the following dimensions: 100 x 100 mm (4"x4"); 50 x 50 mm (2"x2") or 25 x 25 mm (1"x1") with dimensional tolerances according to international standards.
Packaging: in steel drums with a minimum net weight of 150 kg and a maximum of 500 kg.
On the exchange, delivery is allowed only of the brands approved according to the list issued by the London Metal Exchange.
Minimum lot size: 6 TO (each lot must be of a single brand)
